R.E.

The religious education provision and curriculum at Fair Furlong Primary School has been designed to cover, compare and reflect on a wide range of religions and cultures.  Our schools curriculum is based on the Discovery RE curriculum.   We ensure that all pupils, from Nursery to Year 6 are provided with the opportunity to further their knowledge and understanding of major world faiths and allows pupils to explore keys questions.

Religious Education forms an integral part in our schools’ spiritual, moral and social teaching along with promoting citizenship. We believe this is achieved through the range of religions taught and the opportunity to compare these to one another, but also our own beliefs.

In line with the ERA (Education Reform Act 1988), our RE syllabus reflects the fact that the religious traditions in Great Britain are in the main Christian, however, our City is home to a wide range of faiths and beliefs.

Our teaching and learning styles in RE allow pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding, and reflect upon their own beliefs.  We take every opportunity to enrich children's experiences of RE through trips, workshops, visits and visitors.
