Welcome to Guatemala City

Did you know?...Guatemala City is the site of the Mayan city of Kaminaljuyu, founded around 1500 BC.

With approximately 3.3 million residents, it is the biggest city in Central America. Did you know The city was almost completely destroyed by the 1917–18 earthquakes. Reconstructions following the earthquakes have resulted in a more modern architectural landscape?

Guatemala City is generally very warm, almost spring-like, throughout the course of the year. It occasionally gets hot during the dry season, but not as hot and humid as in Central American cities at sea level. The hottest month is April. The rainy season extends from May to October, while the dry season extends from November to April.

The children have created their own circuits, predicting what they think might happen and testing if they were right. This has included testing different materials and seeing if they conduct electricity or if they insulate it. To finish this topic, the children will be making their own circuit game on Thursday.
